From the Principal
February, 2012
Dear Parents,
It is hard to believe that we are half way through the school year. We are beginning a new semester! This gives us an opportunity for a fresh start, to change some habits that aren’t working and develop better habits that will impact our learning. It is important for our students to realize that: Education and learning are important to each of us; we continue to learn throughout our lifetime - this is what life is all about; the McAuliffe community is a learning community. As our entryway states: “Through these doors walk the best students in the world.” A family discussion on what it takes to be a great student would be helpful. Our teachers will also be talking about being great students and about the McAuliffe Rights and Responsibilities that you and your child signed at the beginning of this school year. It is a good idea to review these with your child. You can find a copy of our Rights and Responsibilities in our Virtual Backpack on the McAuliffe webpage, or ask your child’s teacher to send one home. Also, please remember to have your child read each day!
We need your help! The number of students arriving late for school is increasing. Being on time for school is important for our students, less stress allows them to have a productive day. Arrival is a time for students to organize themselves for the day. The McAuliffe staff comes in at 7:55 am. If your child arrives after that time you will need to come into school to sign them in. Being prompt is a wonderful habit to develop as a life skill.
Sincerely,
Peg Sheehan
Principal
