II. Digital Manufacturing The Learner Will.
1. understand the definitions and advantages of digital in manufacturing
2. view a timeline of the development of manufacturing from the first tools, through the industrial revolution, and the transition to digital manufacturing

3. see the effects of digital manufacturing on the quality of products and quality control

4. interface a computer with a machine to produce a take home product

5. experience manufacturing techniques and processes

6. observe manufacturing systems through digital presentation of an actual system

7. expand reading and research skills by using books, software and multi-media to complete module research challenges and applications

III. Computer Graphics and Animation

The Learner Will...

1. increase their knowledge of computer applications

2. enhance their mathematical skills by solving problems related to computer applications

3. experience time management principles, cooperative and collaborative learning, and self-direction in real-world situations designed to increase self-confidence

4. expand their reading and research skills by using books, software and interactive multi-media to complete module research challenges and applications

5. engage in activities which culminate in the completion of a portfolio of projects accomplished utilizing various computer applications and techniques

6. comprehend the basic processes involved in graphic production and editing by viewing a video segment

7. explore the process of video graphic design by using computer software to create and produce graphics and animated sequences

8. experience a variety of engagements in both the cognitive and psychomotor domains, aiding transition of the young adolescent from concrete to abstract thinking.

9. increase their knowledge of the digitizing process by capturing an image with a video

IV. Electricity Module The Learner Will... 1. draw a schematic diagram of a series and parallel circuit on a marker board and discover the relationship between the electrical units of voltage, current, and resistance, by measuring each with a voltage and ohm meter

2. demonstrate their knowledge of electrical circuits by wiring a series and parallel circuit on the educational instrument

3. classify samples of electrical conductors and insulators using a voltage and ohm meter

4. test material samples for electrical conductivity using an insulator conductor board

5. explore the concepts of electricity and magnetism by viewing a video segment on electrical currents and circuits

6. observe the strength and direction of magnetic lines of force

7. increase knowledge of electricity concepts and terms by reading available module resource material for specified time segments during the term of the module

8. expand reading and research skills by using books, software and interactive multi-media to complete module research challenges and applications

9. experience time management principles, cooperative and collaborative learning, and self-direction in real-world situations designed to increase self-confidence

10. enhance mathematical skills by solving problems related to this module

V. Electronics Module

The Learner Will...

1. identify the following electronic components: transistor, diode, capacitor, LED, and
resistor

2. construct several different circuits on a circuit board

3. understand the function of various electronic components after wiring each component on a circuit board

4. demonstrate knowledge of electronic components by assembling and soldering an electronic kit to produce a working circuit

5. experience material foundational to learning, yet captivating for the young adolescent at this stage of psychological and motor development

6. expand reading and research skills by using books, software and interactive multi-media to complete module research challenges and applications

7. experience time management principles, cooperative and collaborative learning, and self-direction in real-world situations designed to increase self-confidence

8. enhance mathematical skills by solving problems related to this module

VI. Research and Design Module The Learner Will... 1. understand the relevance of specifications to the design process of a CO2 powered dragster

2. use Synergistic multi-view worksheets to design and draw a CO2 dragster

3. use a bandsaw, drill press, sandpaper and paint to produce and complete a CO2 dragster

4. use a Synergistic roll test ramp and test the performance design of a dragster

5. increase knowledge of research and design concepts and terms by reading available module resource material for specified time segments during the term of the module

6. expand reading and research skills by using books and video segments to complete module research challenges and applications

7. experience time management principles, cooperative and collaborative learning, and self-direction in real-world situations designed to increase self-confidence

8. enhance their mathematical skills by solving problems related to this module

9. experience material foundational to learning, yet captivating for the young adolescent at this stage of psychological and motor development VII. Graphic Communications Module

The Learner Will...

1. correctly identify and define the purpose of the following drafting tools: T-square, scale, triangle, drawing board and pencil

2. demonstrate the use of a scale by correctly measuring a series of ten (10) lines on a measurement worksheet

3. complete a finished drawing by using the Computer Aided Drafting system

VIII. Flight Technology Module

The Learner Will...

1. comprehend the basic principles of aero-dynamics

2. design and construct an airfoil

3. observe and understand the Bernoulli principles by using a Synergistic wing test device to produce and measure lift on an airfoil

4. explore basic aerodynamic principles by operating a flight simulator

5. increase their knowledge of flight technology concepts and terms by reading available module resource materials for specified time segments during the term of the module

6. expand reading and research skills by using books, software and interactive multi-media to complete module research challenges and applications

7. experience time management principles, cooperative and collaborative learning, and self-direction in real-world situations designed to increase self-confidence

8. enhance mathematical skills by solving problems related to this module

IX. Rocketry and Space Technology Module The Learner Will... 1. engage in abstract thinking by applying design principles to hand-on activities including the process of designing and constructing a model rocket

2. understand the history of U.S. space exploration and the development of rocketry by viewing a video segment

3. experience time management principles, cooperative and collaborative learning and self-direction in real-world situations designed to increase self-confidence

4. expand reading and research skills by using books, software and interactive multi-media to complete module research challenges and applications

5. increase knowledge of rocketry and space concepts and vocabulary by reading available module resource material for specified time segments during the term of the module

6. observe rocket aerodynamics and flight by launching the rocket and measuring its altitude

7. comprehend certain scientific principles as they relate to rocketry and space flight through the use of computer software

X. Digital Transportation Module

The Learner Will...

1. learn the definition and experience a timeline of transportation

2. prepare a travel plan for a trip

3. use software to explore and navigate the highway system

XI. Robotics Module

The Learner Will...

1. explore the history of robotics using a software program

2. experience and understand the fundamentals of industrial robots by viewing a video segment

3. use a computer to program and operate a robotic arm

4. recognize the importance of robotics in the constant change and development of manufacturing and technology in today's society

5. use joysticks to manipulate a robot arm to perform selected activities

6. expand reading and research skills by using books, software and interactive multi-media to complete module research challenges and applications

7. experience time management principles, cooperative and collaborative learning and self-direction in real-world situations designed to increase self-confidence

8. enhance mathematical skills by solving problems related to this module

XII. Digital Video Module

The Learner Will...

1. understand three editing principles: sequencing, continuity and pacing

2. explore the technique of editing sound into a video project

3. recognize the difference between pre-production, production, and post-production as it relates to video

4. recognize the advantages of non-linear editing versus that of linear editing techniques

5. expand reading and research skills by using books, software and multi-media to complete module research challenges and applications

6. increase their knowledge of video vocabulary by reading available module resource material for specified time segments during the term of the module

7. experience teamwork, time management principles, cooperative and collaborative learning, self-direction, and motivation in work-related situations designed to increase self-confidence

8. enhance mathematical skills by solving problems related to digital editing

9. explore various careers related to the field of video

XIII. Audio Broadcasting Module

The Learner Will...

1. conduct three critical activities as they complete this module

2. during the News Stories activity, explain the important of identifying the station name and call numbers prior to the broadcast, justify the news story choices they made, explain the length of their chosen news stories to comfortably fit into the 15-minute broadcast format, and record three news stories in verbal format.

3. in Making Commercials, justify the two commercial topics they chose, explain the purpose of using background music and/or sound effects in their commercial, verbalize the ease or difficulty of creating a 15-30 second commercial and explain the process of creating a 15-30 second commercial.

4. in the Final Broadcast, evaluate and make recommendations to improve the quality of their broadcast program, explain the importance of a carefully planned and practiced broadcast program, identify the importance of the opportunity to operate the equipment and talk during the broadcast, and complete a 15-minute final broadcast.

5. read the module resource material and conduct a career investigation and related careers research.

6. complete four math/science enrichment activities included with this module.

XIV. Engineering Towers Module

The Learner Will...

1. recognize and observe the relationship between design and tower strength by testing the finished tower on a Synergistic testing device

2. expand reading and research skills by using books, software and interactive multi-media to complete module research challenges and applications

3. increase knowledge of engineering concepts and vocabulary by reading available module resource material for specified time segments during the term of the module

4. experience time management principles, cooperative and collaborative learning and self-direction in real-world situations designed to increase self-confidence

5. enhance mathematical skills by solving problems related to this module

6. use a worksheet to create and illustrate a specific design for a tower

XV. CADD Module

The Learner Will...

1. design and build their own models of a soap-box racer using CADD software

2. draw an orthographic drawing of a rectangular solid (Prism)

3. demonstrate ability in producing multi-view drawing of other geometric solids

4. design a home using suggested room sizes

5. produce CADD drawing of their designed homes on 2-D and multiple 3-D modes

XVI. Energy/Power/Mechanics Module

The Learner Will...

1. understand the concepts of gears and gear ratios

2. demonstrate knowledge of the three classes of levers by completing a hand-on activity

3. work with Synergistic educational instruments to discover the function and potential use for pneumatics, hydraulics and gears

4. increase their knowledge of energy, power and mechanics concepts and terms by reading available module resource material for specified time segments during the module

5. explore the concepts of energy and its development for the future by viewing video segments on energy, work and the future

6. comprehend an alternative use of the sun's energy by operating a Synergistic solar cooker

7. expand reading and research skills by using books, software and interactive multi-media to complete module research challenges and applications

8. experience time management principles, cooperative and collaborative learning, and self-direction in real-world situations designed to increase self confidence

9. enhance mathematical skills by solving problems related to this module
 

XVII. Biosystems Module

The Learner Will.

 
1. discover the effects of exercise on body temperature

2. identify several human bones

3. determine the effects of exercise on muscle strength

4. learn how to take blood pressure readings

5. learn how to take pulse readings
