School Curriculum Objectives
The Learner Will...:

Demonstrate physical competency in individual and team sports, creative
movement and leisure and work-related activities.
- Analyze various movement concepts and applications.
- Demonstrate knowledge of rules, safety and strategies
during physical activity.
- Dribble, pass, catch and shoot. (Ball or Puck)
- Pivot effectively on either foot.
- Combine a run, the dribble, proper footwork, and ball
(puck)-handling.
- Maneuver with an implement to pass, receive, shoot and
strike.
- Run offensive patterns.
- Serve, serve receive, pass and strike a volleyball,
tennis ball, eclipse
ball or shuttlecock.
- Move rhythmically or to a cadence.
- Detect, analyze, and correct errors in personal movement
patterns.
- Use information about performance to adjust practice
procedures to improve
skill performance.
- Apply rules and safety procedures in physical activities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and apply the rules and
regulations of all physical
education activities necessary to be a contributing and active
participant
in these activities.
- Practice and apply all given safety instructions, safety
tips, safety rules
and injury prevention recommendations for all sports and activities to
prevent injury to self and others.
- Use information from a variety of sources (including
physical education
teachers and peers) to improve performance.
- Detect, analyze and correct errors in team movement
patterns.
- Demonstrate and execute game (offensive and defensive)
strategies taught
in physical education class.
- Willingly discuss observations made by teammates and
teachers to be a more
effective participant.
- Know and apply the principles and components of
health-related fitness.
- Assess individual fitness levels.
- Set goals based on fitness data and develop, implement
and monitor an individual
fitness improvement plan.
- Recognize that an increase in training frequency is
necessary for improvement.
- Recognize the relationship between intensity of training
and fitness level.
- Recognize the impact of training duration and fitness.
- Recognize the relationship between the type of exercises
and training and
desired fitness needs.
- Participate in moderate to vigorous physical activity in
a variety of settings.

maintain muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and cardio

functioning, and/or proper body composition.

- Participate in Community and School Family Activity
Nights.
- Participate in fitness-enhancing organized activities in

- Understand the importance of including warm-ups,
stretching and cool-downs
(restretch) as part of daily physical activities.
- Incorporate fitness training components to attain
