Welcome to Fernway School's home page. Our school services students in kindergarten through grade five. We have a large group
of dedicated staff members who foster a positive learning environment for our 600+ students. There is a strong emphasis on reading,
providing both the skills and the encouragement necessary to make it a life long activity. Seven buildings are located in our
District, Kirby School District 140, including five elementary and two middle schools. Fernway Park Elementary School is located
in Orland Park, Illinois, which is a rapidly growing suburban residential community. Our district is approximately 30 miles southwest
of Chicago.
In order for students to succeed and make progress students must have a goal or purpose. Reading is the number one concern at
Fernway School, and having all our students reading at or above grade level by 3rd grade is our primary goal for this school year.
Additional goals are to improve math progress at all grade levels and to provide a learning environment that fosters growth in all Fernway
students in a positive manner.
Knowledge is power and to acquire knowledge will allow all of our students to control their destiny and to be productive citizens in our society.
