Dear Parents,
February has arrived! Hopefully our cold weather will disappear soon. Will the groundhog see his shadow Thursday?
I am asking all students to learn their math facts and become math masters so that their pictures can be displayed on the Math Master Poster outside the office. Knowing math is a lifetime activity, please spend a few minutes each day reviewing the math facts with your children. MATH BLAST DAYS are held throughout the month. Ask your children about them!
Important activities for February are: the 5th Grade Boys Basketball Team will begin practicing with their coaches Mrs. Lynch and Mrs. O’Malley; students are having fun participating in Game Club and Irish Dancing, and Live News is continuing. It’s always exciting to see our students on Fernway Television! Grades three, four and five are busy preparing for the ISATS, which they will be taking at the beginning of March. Check out the ISBE website for all the different information on the ISATS. Take the practice tests with your children.
FAMILY MATH NIGHT is February 8th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please plan on attending. The students love to come to events with their parents. Information will be coming home soon.
Thank you to all the parents who follow the rules for drop off/pick up on O’Brien Dr. I appreciate your patience. Remember, no one is allowed to park in front to pick up their children. That area is reserved for the District 140 buses and the day care buses. Also, too many students are arriving late. Please make sure your children arrive on time; the Tardy Bell rings at 8:00.

Keep reading too and with your children. Biographies are great to read and discuss during February. Make some hot chocolate, snuggle up and READ.
