Millennium Safety Assemblies 10/2011

K-2 Assembly: Illinois Secretary of State personnel and robot Toby the Tire hosted an assembly on bus safety for our Project Pro AM, Early Childhood AM, Kindergarten, 1st, & 2nd grade students on October 3rd. The focus of the Toby the Tire assembly was to stay away from strangers when waiting at your bus stop, stay three giant steps from the road when waiting for the bus, respecting your driver by remaining in your seat and using an inside voice, ensuring safety by moving away from the bus once off the bus, and looking both ways whenever you cross the street.
3-5 Assembly: Metra Operation Lifesaver hosted an assembly on train safety for our Project Pro PM, Early Childhood PM, 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade students on October 3rd. The assembly focused on looking both ways before crossing the tracks, not playing on or around train tracks, and if you were to find yourself stuck on the train tracks in your car the number one rule is to “GET OUT!” The students learned about the different train signs including railroad crossing and stopping when you hear a train or see red flashing lights.
