Author Sally M. Walker Visits McAuliffe

Author Sally M. Walker captivated students at a McAuliffe assembly this week. Mrs. Walker focused on how to do lively research and used details from many of the sixty books she has written for young people.  Primary grades learned about how interesting research is, especially when you get to do hands-on research about rhinos and hippos. Third & fourth grade students gained insight into how Winnie the Pooh began his journey as a bear cub at a train station in Ontario, Canada before being smuggled across the ocean and how he eventually found his way to the London Zoo where he met up with someone who would make him famous. Fifth grade students found out about how the bones of people who lived in Jamestown and Colonial Maryland could tell a lot about how people lived back then. Thanks to the McAuliffe PTO for sponsoring this fantastic author presentation!
