When the 2026-27 school year begins in August, students at Fernway Park Elementary School will have a new principal. KSD 140 educator John Conley was selected to lead the school, succeeding retiring Principal Sandy Hutchinson.
“I’m honored to join the Fernway community,” Conley said. “This is a school with a strong tradition of caring for students and working closely with families. I’m grateful for the opportunity to listen, learn, and work alongside the staff and community to support every student.”
Mr. Conley holds a master’s degree in principal preparation from Concordia University Chicago, a master’s degree in music education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago, and a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Lewis University. He has been with District 140 for over 13 years, most recently serving as the Assistant Principal of Prairie View Middle School.
Fernway is currently undergoing construction that will continue through the fall of 2026. Conley said he looks forward to supporting students and staff during this time of transition.
“Any time a school is growing and improving its spaces, it takes teamwork,” Conley said. “I’m excited to be part of this moment for Fernway and to help ensure our students and staff continue to feel supported during the final phase of the renovation.”
