Congratulations to District 140’s new Spelling Bee Champion James A. James, an eighth-grader from Prairie View correctly spelling the word "parole" and clinched the victory with “compassion”.

Due to the snowstorm this week, the Food Drive Challenge has been extended through Tuesday, February 8.
Just a reminder ... Friday, February 4 is a Half-Day.
It's game on for a great cause! D140 middle schools are competing against each other to see which school can bring in the most non-perishable food items for the Together We Cope Food Pantry.
Breakthrough will be held at Prairie View Middle School on Friday, February 11 from 5:00 – 9:00 pm.
Due to weather, District 140 will remain closed on Thursday, February 3 and eLearning will continue for all students, teachers, and support staff.
Due to inclement weather, Wednesday, February 2 will be an eLearning Day for all students, teachers, and support staff. All students in PreK through eighth grade will learn remotely from 8 am until 1 pm.

Mr. Poortinga and his colleague expanded on student knowledge of aerodynamics, forces of flight, flight planning, and how they both use this knowledge in their careers.
Over the upcoming weeks, D140 students, teachers, and parents will be given the opportunity to weigh in on school climate and learning conditions by taking the annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey.

As Winter Break approaches, we would like to wish the students, parents, staff, and community members a happy and healthy holiday season!
On Monday, December 13, seventh-grader Samuel O. was awarded a ride to school aboard a Tinley Park fire truck for her winning submission in the city-wide contest.
This week, KSD 140 middle school students met with representatives from the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) as part of the “I Chose My Future” Drug Prevention Program.
In an effort to expand opportunities for student voice, the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SSAC) meets regularly throughout the school year and allows the superintendent to gather feedback directly from D140 students.
