Five student-athletes from Kirby School District 140 excelled at the 2025 Special Olympics Summer State Games, held from June 20 to 22, at Illinois State University.

Despite the extreme temperatures, our athletes showed patience, determination, and perseverance. Athletes competed in the standing long jump, tennis ball throw, 50-meter run, and 100-meter run. The team brought home two gold medals, one silver medal, one bronze medal, and two fourth-place ribbons.

Congratulations to Isaac A., Ben C., Caitlin C., Erin D., and Ethan T.

A big thank you goes out to Special Olympics Coordinators Chrisie DeCarlo and Katherine Fricano, as well as everyone who came out to support the team!
