Curriculum and Instruction

District 140 recognizes its responsibility to provide our students with the most current research and best practices available in the field of education. Our instruction is designed to provide all students with a rigorous and relevant curriculum and to ensure that every student has access to knowledge and skills that challenge them to reach mastery.
A curriculum cycle has been developed to regularly review, evaluate, and update all subject areas. This process involves alignment with the Illinois Learning Standards, Common Core Standards, and Performance Descriptors; ongoing data analysis; a focus on student learning; and a mindset of continuous improvement.
The department also emphasizes preparation and continuing professional development for educators at all grade levels. Institute days, half-days, guest speakers, committee work, academic workshops, and state conferences are just some of the opportunities available to our teachers.
