When the 2018-19 school year begins in August, students attending John A. Bannes Elementary School will have a new principal. KSD 140 educator Mr. Daniel Callaghan was selected to lead the school, taking over for Principal Terry Kowalski who is retiring.

Mr. Callaghan holds a master's degree in School Administration from Governor's State University and a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Trinity Christian College. He is currently pursuing a  Doctorate of Educational Leadership degree from the University of St. Francis. Mr. Callaghan has been with the District for the past 15 years and was most recently the Assistant Principal at Prairie View Middle School. His prior experience includes teaching PE, Health, and Fitness at PV and teaching third and fifth grades at Millennium Elementary School.

"I'm honored that I have the opportunity to become part of the Bannes family," stated Mr. Callaghan. "I'm really looking forward to working together with the students, staff, and families to ensure the students grow academically, socially, and emotionally."
