Fifth Graders Explore Instruments at Beginning Band Presentation

Band Directors Mr. Szczasny, Mr. Hodges, and Ms. Schubbe visited with Keller’s fifth grade classes last week. Students had the opportunity to explore various woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments and ask questions about District 140’s Beginning Band program.

Each week, Beginning Band members receive a 30 minute lesson at his/her home elementary school. In addition to lessons, all Beginning Band members meet for an hour long "full band" rehearsal once a week. Students can attend the Monday after school practice at Prairie View (4-5pm) or the Tuesday after school practice at Grissom (4-5pm). Members also participate in three concerts during the school year.
