Tinley Park Fire Inspector Steve Lorendo with McAuliffe Elementary first grade students.

As part of their National Fire Prevention Week campaign, the Tinley Park Fire Department visits Kirby School District 140 elementary schools in September and October to educate students on all aspects of fire safety and prevention. Their message includes "stop, drop, and roll" and “crawl low under smoke” tips, the need for working smoke alarms, and escape planning and practice.

On Tuesday, September 25th, fire department personnel visited McAuliffe Elementary and gave students an overview of the fire truck equipment, firefighting protective clothing, and fire safety tips.
