Beginning with the 2022-23 school year, educator Julie Simpson will join KSD 140’s administrative team as the new Assistant Principal of Grissom Middle School.

Mrs. Simpson has a Master's in Educational Leadership from Bowie State University, Bowie, Maryland, and a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Pensacola Christian College, Pensacola, Florida. She has been in the education field for twenty-six years, with thirteen of those years spent in administration. After relocating to Illinois from Maryland nine years ago, Mrs. Simpson joined the D140 team, serving as an Educational Technology Facilitator and an eighth-grade English/Language Arts teacher at Prairie View Middle School.

“I am humbled and blessed to be a part of the Grissom Middle School family,” stated Mrs. Simpson.  “I look forward to working alongside students, parents, and teachers to help them grow in their educational endeavors.”

Mrs. Simpson will replace Assistant Principal Michael Rumbaugh, who will become Grissom’s Principal on July 1, 2022.
