The D140 Board of Education approved the 2026-27 School Year Calendar at its January 22 meeting. With construction at Fernway and Keller on schedule, the district will return to a more traditional start date. Additionally, the calendar also shifts from quarters to trimesters, better aligning staff professional development and creating a more natural fit with the timing of parent-teacher conferences.
Key dates for the 2026-27 school year include:
- Kindergarten Roundup will be held at all elementary schools on Monday, August 17.
- The 2026-27 School Year begins with two Teacher Institute Days on Tuesday, August 18, and Wednesday, August 19.
- Elementary School Open Houses will be held on Tuesday, August 18.
- The first day of student attendance for all grades is Thursday, August 20.
- Middle School Open Houses will be held on Monday, August 24.
- Parent-Teacher Conferences are Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24.
- Winter Break will begin at the close of school on Tuesday, December 22 (Half-Day). Students and staff will return on Wednesday, January 6.
- Spring Break will begin on Monday, March 22. Classes will resume on Tuesday, March 30.
- If no emergency days are used, the last student attendance day will be a Half-Day on Friday, June 4.
