2026 Breakthrough a Success!

A total of 157 District 140 middle school students attended Breakthrough at Prairie View on Friday, February 13. Designed to bring youth, community professionals, and educators together for a fun evening retreat, the program focused on personal and social development, promoted healthy decision-making, and emphasized team building.

"Being able to see our staff and students from both Prairie View and Grissom come together for Breakthrough was awesome! We are so honored to coordinate this amazing event our district provides to our students,” said teacher Zack Oganovich. “Breakthrough was such an amazing time for all our middle school students! Our high school students brought a high level of energy, and our middle school students matched the energy. This was truly an amazing event for our community!” said teacher David Zielezinski

A special thanks to guest speaker Brittany Richmond, Andrew High School student volunteers, our Grissom and Prairie View students, and D140 teachers, administrators, and custodial staff for making Breakthrough a huge success!

Students smile as they pose for a photo behind a large decorative frame with "2026" and "Ignite The Night" written on it.     A group of people wearing coral shirts and yellow sunglasses, some with leis, stand together in a gymnasium. One person holds an orange flag and another holds a small orange object.

Two teams compete in a tug-of-war match on a polished wooden gymnasium floor.      A group of smiling students pose behind a decorative frame that reads "Ignite the Night" and "2026".
