At its May meeting, the school board approved two building administrative appointments for the 2026-27 school year: Colleen Sempek, Assistant Principal of Prairie View Middle School, and Alex Weinberg, Principal of Keller Elementary School.
Colleen Sempek Named Assistant Principal of Prairie View Middle School
Colleen Sempek will join the Kirby School District 140 administrative team as assistant principal of Prairie View Middle School following John Conley's promotion to principal of Fernway Elementary School.
“Colleen has been a valued member of the Prairie View community for over a decade," said Principal Maura Baskovich. "Her commitment to students, staff, and families is evident in everything she does, and I am excited to see her continue making a difference as the assistant principal."
With more than 20 years of experience in education, Sempek brings a strong background in leadership, instruction, and student support. She holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education, along with a Master’s in Reading Specialty and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Saint Xavier University.
"I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as Prairie View's assistant principal," said Sempek. "This school has been my home for the past 10 years, and I look forward to continuing to build relationships, support our students, and contribute to the strong sense of community that makes Prairie View so special."
Alex Weinberg Named Principal of Keller Elementary School
Alex Weinberg has been selected to lead Keller Elementary School as its next principal. An experienced educator and current assistant principal at Grissom Middle School, he brings a strong background in teaching, learning, and student support to the role.
"Alex leads with humility, cares deeply about students, and understands the importance of building strong relationships with families and staff," said Superintendent Dr. Dan Callaghan. "I am confident he will be a great fit for the Keller community."
Weinberg holds a Master’s in School Leadership from Concordia University - Chicago, a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Olivet Nazarene University, and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign.
"I’m excited to become part of the Keller community and begin building relationships with the people who make it such a special place," said Weinberg. "I look forward to working alongside students, staff, and families and learning how I can best support them."
