Theresa Blackwell joined the Kirby School District 140 administrative team as assistant principal of Grissom Middle School following Alex Weinberg's promotion to principal of Keller Elementary School.
“Theresa brings strong instructional leadership experience, along with a clear vision for continuing to strengthen Grissom's school climate and culture,” said principal Mike Rumbaugh. “She is committed to fully investing herself in our school community by building trusting, positive, and productive relationships with students, staff, and families.”
Blackwell most recently served as the Instructional Coach at Millennium Elementary School, where she spent the past several years supporting teachers and student learning. Prior to that, she worked for many years as both a classroom teacher and MTSS Specialist at Millennium. Throughout her 15-year career with District 140, she has established herself as an effective, well-respected educator and leader.
She holds a master’s in principal preparation from Concordia University, a master’s in reading from Olivet Nazarene University, and a bachelor’s in elementary education from Illinois State University.
"I am truly honored to serve the Grissom community as assistant principal," said Blackwell. "It is a privilege to join a school with such a strong foundation. I look forward to learning from this community, supporting our students and staff, and working together to continue the great things already happening at Grissom."
