D140’s Special Olympics State team was recognized at the July Board of Education meeting for its outstanding performance at the 2026 Special Olympics Illinois Summer State Games held June 12 - 14 at Illinois State University.
Five student-athletes competed in the standing long jump, shot put, tennis ball throw, and the 30-meter motorized wheelchair slalom race. The team brought home one gold medal, two silver medals, one bronze medal, and two fourth-place ribbons.
