The Grissom Middle School girls’ cross country team has done it again! The Patriots captured their third consecutive SWIC Conference Championship, completing an impressive three-peat.
Grissom dominated the conference race, with Brooklyn D. finishing first, Lanie S. taking second, and Magda G. placing third. The championship team, coached by Katie Ryan and Dianne Raslavicz, also included McKenna F., Angel J., Kate K., and Lili N.
For Brooklyn D., Magda G., Kate K., and Lanie S., the victory was especially meaningful. All four runners were members of each of Grissom’s three consecutive championship teams.
“Winning three conference championships in a row is an incredible accomplishment,” said Coach Katie Ryan. “Our girls have shown tremendous commitment and dedication throughout the season.”
The Grissom boys also turned in a strong performance, finishing second overall in the conference. Hudson R. led the Patriots with a second-place individual finish. The boys’ team included Ziad A., Connor G., Brooks J., Shane J., Momen O., Hudson R., and Parker R.
Grissom runners also competed well in the open races, with the girls placing fifth and the boys finishing third. Motaz A. added a top-10 finish.
“Each season, our athletes have continued to work together and push each other to be their best,” said Coach Dianne Raslavicz. “We are incredibly proud of what they have accomplished.”
