Seventh Grade Students Compete in Apollo 13 STEM Activity

After reading an excerpt from Apollo 13, seventh grade students discussed technical language and the need for the astronauts in the book to build a specific device using only what they had on board the space shuttle. The students then gathered in groups of four and were given the same material and directions. The objective was to build a device that would lift and move three empty film canisters.  The finale was a group vs group challenge to see whose device was built to withstand the task.
