The District 140 community was shocked and saddened to learn of the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas. Our thoughts and prayers are with the students, staff, and families who have been impacted by this tragic event.

Congratulations to the 93 seventh-grade students who were recently inducted into the Grissom and Prairie View chapters of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS).
With an amazing 11-0 season record, our Prairie View Eagles girls' soccer team captured the Southwest Interscholastic Conference (SWIC) South Division regular-season championship and the SWIC Tournament Championship.
Congratulations to the Prairie View boys' soccer team, who took the top spot in the Southwest Interscholastic Conference (SWIC) tournament after an intense match against Conrady on May 12.

Kirby School District 140 is holding an informational meeting for District families at Fernway Park Elementary School on Tuesday, May 17 at 5:00 pm.
At the May 9 Special Board Meeting, C&H Educational Consultants provided the Board of Education with a report detailing the input gathered from community and staff members at the April 21 and April 28 superintendent search meetings.

Kirby School District 140 brought home 13 awards from the annual South Cook Math Bowl held at Prairie State College on April 28 - 29.
The Jazz Band performed for a crowd of over 400 people last Friday at the Illinois Principals Association (IPA) Student Recognition Breakfast at The Odyssey Venue in Tinley Park.
Grissom and Prairie View middle schools will be offering Summer Sports Camps for students in grades 5 - 8.

Just a few reminders…
C&H Educational Consultants was selected by the D140 Board of Education to help facilitate the search for a new Superintendent. An important part of this process will be gathering feedback from community members at a meeting on Thursday, April 28 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm at Prairie View Middle School.
Registration and Residency Verification for the 2022-23 school year is open online, and an early registration discount will be given to families who register their students and pay their fees or set up a payment plan by Friday, April 29.
The Symphonic Band and the Cadet Band performed at the Illinois Grade School Music Association (IGSMA) State Contest on Saturday, April 23, at Lockport High School.

On Thursday, April 21, the Prairie View PTO hosted their annual “Honors Breakfast.” Congratulations to the 277 Prairie View students who earned a 3.75 cumulative GPA this year.
In order to qualify for a discount on registration fees, you must log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal and register your student and pay your fees by April 29.
